The management of African Independent Television (AIT) has pledged full media support for the 2026 Women in Security Summit and Awards (WINSEC), including live broadcast of the awards ceremony.
The commitment was made during a courtesy visit by the National Chairperson of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim, who also chairs the WINSEC Committee, to Daar Communications Plc, owners of AIT, in Abuja.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer of Daar Communications Plc, Chief Marcel Anyanyechi, described WINSEC as a timely initiative that recognises the dedication, courage and sacrifices of women serving in Nigeria’s security sector.
He said the summit would help promote patriotism, excellence and greater commitment among security personnel and other stakeholders working to strengthen national security.
“Those who are making sacrifices for the peace and security of our nation deserve to be recognised and honoured. We will work with you, partner with you and collaborate with you to ensure that the ceremony comes out successful,” Anyanyechi said.
He stressed that tackling Nigeria’s security challenges requires collaboration among the media, security agencies, government institutions and citizens, describing national security as a shared responsibility.
As part of its support, AIT pledged to provide live coverage of the awards segment, extensive news coverage of the summit, promotional broadcasts across its platforms, scroll message announcements and technical guidance to enhance publicity materials.
Anyanyechi also reaffirmed AIT’s commitment to promoting security awareness, public enlightenment and responsible journalism through its platforms.
Earlier, Hajiya Aisha Ibrahim thanked AIT for its support and described WINSEC as a strategic platform for advancing discussions on security, peacebuilding, gender inclusion, leadership and national development.
She said the initiative was designed to recognise women and other individuals making significant contributions to Nigeria’s security architecture while encouraging greater participation in national development.
The 2026 Women in Security Summit and Awards is scheduled to hold on June 30 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja, under the theme: “Celebrating Courage, Passion, Loyalty, Commitment and Sacrifice of Service in Securing the Nation.”
The event is expected to bring together stakeholders from the security, media, governance and civil society sectors to discuss national security, leadership and gender inclusion, while honouring outstanding contributors to peace and security in Nigeria.
