Nigeria Congratulates India on 78th Independence Day, Pledges Stronger Ties

Nigeria has joined the global community in celebrating the Republic of India’s Independence Day, marking the occasion with a strong reaffirmation of diplomatic solidarity and shared values.
In a goodwill message, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, extended heartfelt congratulations to his Indian counterpart, Dr. Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, as India commemorates its 78th year of independence.
“This day stands as a powerful testament to the Indian people’s resilience, vision, and determination in achieving sovereignty,” Ambassador Tuggar stated. “Nigeria is proud to stand alongside India in honoring this historic milestone.”
Nigeria and India share a long-standing and multifaceted relationship rooted in mutual respect, democratic values, and strategic cooperation. Over the years, both nations have deepened their partnership through vibrant trade exchanges, academic collaborations, defence partnerships, and cultural diplomacy.
The two countries also continue to work closely within international platforms such as the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Nations, and the G77, driving collective efforts towards global peace, sustainable development, and economic equity.
On this significant day, Nigeria reiterated its commitment to expanding these ties, exploring new frontiers for cooperation, and jointly addressing pressing global challenges.
“We once again extend our congratulations to the government and people of India,” the statement concluded, “and wish them continued progress, prosperity, and unity.”
