Police authorities in Abia State have launched a manhunt for a suspect, Chinedu Anamelechi, who allegedly shot dead his girlfriend’s sister, Ezinne Ariwodo, in Umuanga Amakama community, Umuahia South Local Government Area.
According to reports, the suspect, said to be a local security operative, also allegedly stabbed his girlfriend and shot another young man during the attack before fleeing the area.

The motive behind the violent incident remains unclear as of the time of filing this report.
Confirming the development, the Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Maureen Chinaka, said the command responded swiftly after receiving a distress report from the community.
“Upon receipt of the report, operatives of the command swiftly moved to the scene where they found the lifeless body of the deceased in a pool of blood with gunshot wounds,” Chinaka said.
She added that the injured victims were immediately evacuated to a medical facility for urgent treatment.
“The injured victims were rescued and rushed to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. The deceased was confirmed dead by medical personnel and her remains deposited in the morgue for autopsy,” she stated.
Police also confirmed that exhibits were recovered from the scene as part of ongoing investigations.
Chinaka noted that calm has since been restored in the community and urged residents to remain law-abiding while efforts are intensified to apprehend the fleeing suspect.
“We urge members of the public not to take the law into their hands. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspect,” she added.
Authorities say further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.
