The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially published the personal particulars of candidates contesting in the upcoming 2025 Anambra State governorship election.

This development follows the successful conclusion of party primaries conducted by 16 registered political parties and the subsequent submission of candidates’ nomination forms via the commission’s dedicated online portal, which closed at 6 p.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025.

In a statement released on Saturday, the National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun, announced the publication of the candidates’ credentials. The statement, titled ‘Publication of Personal Particulars of Candidates for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election’, confirmed that all necessary documents, including academic qualifications and other credentials, have been displayed at the INEC state headquarters in Awka and at the 21 local government area offices across Anambra State.

INEC Urges Public Scrutiny of Candidates’ Documents

As stipulated under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2022 and item 4 of the election’s official timetable, the commission is inviting members of the public, particularly residents of Anambra State, to examine the submitted documents. INEC also reminded aspirants who participated in party primaries that they have the legal right to challenge any candidate’s nomination in court if there’s credible evidence suggesting false information was provided.
