Vice President Kashim Shettima has reaffirmed the commitment of the Tinubu administration to meaningfully engage Nigerians in the diaspora in the country’s developmental agenda, assuring them that Nigeria is firmly on the path to global relevance and economic revival.
Speaking during a meeting with the Nigerian community in the United States on the sidelines of the 80th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Shettima said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies are already yielding measurable progress across multiple sectors.
“Continue to believe in Nigeria. Nigeria is on the right track. In the fullness of time, we will occupy our rightful place in the comity of nations,” the Vice President stated.
Reforms Under Renewed Hope Agenda Bearing Fruit
According to a statement by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima told diaspora Nigerians that the ongoing reforms under Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are focused on long-term transformation, with particular emphasis on economic growth, youth investment, and global integration.
“Our foreign reserve is crossing the $40 billion mark, the subnationals are raking in trillions of naira, and we are seeing unprecedented infrastructural investment across the entire country,” Shettima revealed.
He also highlighted key programmes like the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as evidence of the government’s commitment to empowering Nigerian students and the youth population.
Diaspora Nigerians Commended for Resilience and Value
The Vice President praised Nigerians living abroad for their resilience and their continued faith in the nation, describing their experiences and skills as invaluable to national development.
“Each one of you has value-addition capabilities in your own way, and your experience is not something you can buy in the market. You have earned it,” Shettima said.
He stressed that diaspora Nigerians should take pride in their heritage and remain active partners in nation-building.
Call for Continued Patriotism and Global Advocacy
Urging them to continue projecting Nigeria positively on the global stage, Shettima encouraged the community to serve as ambassadors of hope and change, reiterating that the country’s positive developmental indicators are a result of deliberate, people-focused policies by the Tinubu-led administration.
