President Bola Tinubu has congratulated two distinguished Nigerians, Farouk Gumel and Tobi Amusan, for their recent accomplishments on the international stage, calling them “sources of national pride.”
The message was conveyed in a statement issued Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
President Tinubu commended the appointment of Farouk Gumel as Chairman of the Botswana Sovereign Wealth Fund, a position recently conferred by Botswana’s President, Duma Boko.
“This appointment is a testament to Gumel’s expertise, dedication, and the growing global recognition of Nigerian professionals,” the President stated.
Gumel, who also serves as Vice Chairman for Africa at the Tropical General Investment Group (TGI), has played a vital role in Nigeria’s push for food sufficiency and agricultural development. Tinubu expressed confidence that his leadership in Botswana will further elevate Nigeria’s reputation in global finance and international economic management.
In a related recognition, the President also celebrated Tobi Amusan, Nigeria’s star hurdler, for clinching the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the Tokyo World Championships.
“Tobi’s performance is a shining example of resilience and excellence. Her success inspires millions of Nigerians, especially the youth,” the statement read.
President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting Nigerians who project the country positively on the world stage.
