Ondo Fire Kills Mother, Two Children in Devastating Blaze

A devastating fire outbreak on Sunday night claimed the lives of a middle-aged woman and her two children at Rainbow Street, Onipakala Junction, off Adeyemi Road, in Ondo town, Ondo State.

As of Monday, the cause of the inferno remained unknown, but reports indicate that the victims were burned beyond recognition in a fire that raged for several hours, completely destroying their home.

According to a source in the community, the deceased mother, a petty trader, and her two children, identified as 16-year-old Bukola and 11-year-old Ife, were trapped inside as the flames engulfed their residence.

Eyewitnesses revealed that efforts to rescue the victims proved futile due to the absence of the state fire service. “When we called the fire service, we were informed that there was no water or chemicals available to put out the fire,” a local resident lamented.

Confirming the tragic incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Ondo State, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, stated that the police had taken necessary action. “The incident happened in Ondo yesterday, involving a woman and her two children. Their remains have been deposited at the morgue,” she said.

This unfortunate event has raised concerns over the readiness and efficiency of emergency response services in the state, with residents calling for urgent improvements to prevent future tragedies.
