Popular Sports Broadcaster Temisan Okomi Dies After Brief Illness

A well-known Nigerian sports broadcaster, Temisan Okomi, has died following a brief illness, his employer, Classic FM, confirmed.

 

The radio station, where Okomi served for more than 12 years, announced his passing in a statement shared on its official social media pages.

 

“With the heaviest of hearts, we regret to announce the passing of one of our staff, Temisan Okomi, following a brief illness. Until his passing, Temisan was the Group Head of the Sports Department. He was a valued member of our team whose contributions and presence will be deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this most difficult time,” the statement read.

Okomi, who had built a respected career in sports broadcasting, was also an academic graduate of Agronomy and Crop Science from the University of Uyo before transitioning into journalism.

 

Colleagues described him as a passionate broadcaster whose voice and analysis shaped sports programming on the station for years.

 

He is survived by his wife, Veronica, and their three sons.
