The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Development, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has commended Kano State for its dedication to healthcare, particularly in combating infectious diseases and eradicating polio.

During his working visit to the state, Prof. Pate emphasized the urgency of intensifying efforts against polio, citing concerns from development partners about the virus’s persistence. He praised the Kano State government for enacting the Kano Disease Control Center Bill, a significant step toward enhancing public health initiatives.

Prof. Pate acknowledged Kano’s leadership in controlling the recent diphtheria outbreak and assured that the federal government would collaborate closely with state authorities to ensure comprehensive healthcare access for all children.

In response, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Umar Faruk Ibrahim, expressed gratitude for the minister’s visit and the continued support of donor partners.

The governor highlighted the decade-long partnership between the Gates and Dangote Foundations, which has significantly bolstered the state’s healthcare sector. While acknowledging the progress made, he stressed the need for sustained efforts to achieve the complete eradication of polio.

With ongoing support from the federal government and donor agencies, Kano remains committed to overcoming these healthcare challenges and ensuring a healthier future for its residents.
