The first flight of the Kwara State Hajj operation will take off on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, the state Muslim Pilgrims Board has disclosed.
The board said, in a statement signed by the Executive Secretary, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, on Sunday that the inaugural flight which was initially scheduled for Monday, May 20, 2024, was shifted as a result of changes in the initial plans of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria.
The statement read, “Pilgrims from Kwara had initially been scheduled to have their first flight on Monday, May 20, 2024.
“What this change means is that our pilgrims should not come to the camp today again as earlier announced. They should come tomorrow, Monday 20, ahead of their inaugural flight on Tuesday at 10:20 am. This affects only the intending pilgrims whose names were earlier scheduled for the inaugural flight.
“Further information will be released to guide all our pilgrims and the general public. While this slight change is regretted, it is totally out of the control of the state pilgrims board or any local authorities.”
3,102 Pilgrims from the state are billed to perform the 2024 Hajj.
The state governor, AbdulRaman AbdulRazaq, had recently appointed Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe as Ameerul-Hajj for this year.
Meanwhile, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has prayed for successful hajj operations.
He also appealed to the pilgrims to offer special prayers for the nation’s peace, unity, and prosperity.
Sulu-Gambari stated this in a goodwill message issued by his spokesman, Abdulazeez Arowona, on Sunday.
