President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will depart Abuja today, Friday, September 19, for Kaduna State, as part of a brief but significant visit, according to a statement from the Presidency.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the trip in an official statement on Thursday.

During his visit, President Tinubu is scheduled to visit Hajiya Aisha Buhari, widow of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, at the family’s Kaduna residence. This will be Tinubu’s first personal condolence visit since Buhari’s passing in July 2025.

The President will also attend the wedding ceremony of Nasirudeen Yari, son of Senator Abdul’aziz Yari (Zamfara West), who is getting married to Safiyya Shehu Idris.

The Presidency stated that President Tinubu will return to Abuja later today after completing all official and personal engagements in Kaduna.

Muhammadu Buhari, who governed Nigeria from 2015 to 2023, died on July 13, 2025, in London, after a prolonged illness. He was 82 years old.

Following the announcement of his death, President Tinubu declared seven days of national mourning, directing flags across the country to be flown at half-mast. Buhari was buried on July 15 in Daura, Katsina State, according to Islamic funeral rites.
