American rapper Onika Maraj-Petty, popularly known as Nicki Minaj, has used her platform at the United Nations to draw global attention to the rising violence against Christians in Nigeria, urging world leaders to respond decisively.
Addressing delegates, Minaj expressed gratitude to U.S. President Donald Trump for what she described as his commitment to highlighting the crisis.
“I would like to thank President Trump for prioritizing this issue and for his leadership on the global stage in calling for urgent action to defend Christians in Nigeria,” she said.
She painted a grim picture of the situation, noting that Christians in Nigeria had been targeted, displaced, and killed. “Churches have been burnt, families torn apart, and entire communities live in constant fear simply because of how they pray,” Minaj stated.
She added that the concern extends beyond Nigeria, pointing out that religious persecution is escalating in several regions worldwide.
Minaj emphasized that the matter should not be viewed through a partisan lens but as a humanitarian emergency requiring global unity. “Protecting Christians in Nigeria is not about taking sides or dividing people. It is about uniting humanity,” she said, praising Nigeria’s vibrant culture and faith traditions.
Her remarks had since sparked international conversation, adding momentum to calls for stronger global intervention against religious persecution.
