NUJ FCT Council Mourns Loss of Respected Media Elder, Ambrose Sule Inusa

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council has announced with profound sorrow the sudden passing of veteran journalist, Elder Ambrose Sule Inusa. The respected media figure died on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the age of 70, while being rushed to the Federal Medical Centre, Gwarinpa, Abuja, following a brief illness.

Born in Apana, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Elder Sule began his distinguished journalism career with The Nigerian Observer Newspaper. His career saw him rise to notable positions, including serving as Chief Press Secretary to the then Minister of Information in the Second Republic, Garba Wushishi.

A pillar within the NUJ FCT Council, he once chaired the Press Centre Management Committee and remained an active, respected voice within the journalism community. He was the publisher of The Nigerian Environment Newspaper and, until his passing, the Chief Executive Officer of FirstAll Online Media.

Tragically, Elder Sule’s death came a day before what would have been his 70th birthday on May 5, 2025.

Described as a professional, exemplary, and hard-working journalist, Elder Sule was known for his accuracy, integrity, and commitment to ethical journalism. His humility, kindness, and readiness to support colleagues earned him deep respect and affection within the profession.

In a statement, the NUJ FCT Council expressed deep shock and sorrow over his passing, noting that his death comes at a critical time when the newly inaugurated council executive had just finalized plans for a new welfare and healthcare policy tailored to support elders and veterans in the profession.

“Elder Sule was more than a member; he was a friend, mentor, and peacemaker who upheld the values that bind us as a union,” the council said. “His unwavering dedication to ethical standards and professional excellence remains a legacy we will strive to uphold.”

He is survived by his wife and five children. The NUJ FCT Council extended its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew him, praying for strength and fortitude as they bear this irreparable loss.

Elder Ambrose Sule Inusa’s contributions to Nigerian journalism and the union will be remembered for years to come.
