The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Tanimu Turaki has issued a strong warning to the international community, alleging that Nigeria’s democracy is “under threat” and calling for urgent intervention from global powers, including the United States.
Speaking at the PDP national headquarters in Abuja, Turaki alleged that a serving minister in the current administration was leading “armed thugs,” a situation he said required immediate global attention.
He appealed directly to U.S. President Donald Trump and other Western nations to “help safeguard Nigeria.”
“I want to call on President Trump. What is at stake is not just violence against Nigerian Christians, he should come and save democracy in Nigeria. Our democracy is under threat.”
He further urged advanced democracies around the world to intervene, questioning how a federal minister could allegedly supervise violent groups.
The PDP Chairman insisted that party officials are prepared to defend their mandate despite the threats he described. “We are willing to lay down our lives to protect our office, our democracy, and our mandate.
Nigerians are watching what is happening, and the international community can see the danger facing Nigeria’s democracy. Come and save us,” he said.
