Nigerian rapper and activist, Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has sent a direct message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu after resurfacing an old tweet the President made in 2014, during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.
In the resurfaced post, dated November 6, 2014, Tinubu criticized Jonathan’s handling of insecurity, questioning why any part of the country should be “under occupation.” He concluded the tweet with a demand for Jonathan to resign over rising insecurity at the time.
Falz, reacting to the old tweet, highlighted the irony of the statement, pointing out that Nigeria is currently facing severe security challenges under Tinubu’s leadership. The rapper accused the President of failing to protect citizens despite previously presenting himself as someone who cared about their safety.
Quoting Tinubu’s 2014 statement, Falz wrote:
“You have consistently shown your unwillingness to protect the lives and property of our people despite pretending to care in the past. RESIGN NOW!”
Falz’s reaction has sparked widespread discussions online, with many Nigerians debating the current state of national security and the President’s past comments on governance.
