The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has issued a formal sanction to Kenya Airways following multiple consumer protection violations involving three passengers, including one Gloria Omisore.

According to an official statement released today, the infractions committed by the airline include failure to uphold passengers’ right to care, inadequate disclosure of terms and conditions of carriage, non-response to regulatory requests, failure to process refunds and compensation, and mishandling of baggage.

The NCAA, in line with its 2023 Regulations, has not only imposed a fine on the airline but also directed Kenya Airways to settle refunds and compensation within seven days. Each affected passenger is to receive compensation equivalent to 1,000 Special Drawing Rights (SDR), the standard international unit of account used by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The regulatory body has warned that failure to comply with this directive will result in stiffer penalties against the airline.

This latest sanction highlights the NCAA’s commitment to enforcing passenger rights and holding airlines accountable for breaches of aviation consumer protection standards.
