Afrobeats icon Davido, born David Adeleke, has announced that he and his wife, Chioma Rowland, are putting a hold on expanding their family as they shift focus to maintaining a balanced home and supporting Chioma’s entrepreneurial ambitions.
In a candid conversation on the latest episode of Ride Along With Darryl, which gained traction on social media over the weekend, the father of five shared that the couple is taking a deliberate pause from having more children.
> “I don’t want more children now. Me and my wife are taking a break. She needs to get out to work,” Davido said. “She wants to do a lot of things like opening her restaurant and launching her spices. I feel she deserves a couple of years off after having three kids.”
The singer emphasized Chioma’s passion for food and her commitment to launching her brand globally, starting with a line of culinary spices. He revealed that Chioma is now spending more time abroad, actively laying the groundwork for her business ventures.
> “She is here mostly now, so I think she is going to open something here first—both in Nigeria and here—but she wants to start here. The main thing is the spices for now. Get the spices into some major stores worldwide, both in Africa and the diaspora, everywhere, ’cause her food tastes amazing.”
Davido and Chioma, who recently welcomed twins in 2023, have been in the public eye for their evolving love story, but now it seems their next chapter is focused on building both family and business empires.
