The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed allegations made by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, claiming his signature was forged in official correspondence with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

PDP: “Anyanwu Signed the Letters Himself”

At a press briefing held on Monday in Abuja, the PDP’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, categorically denied the accusation of forgery. Speaking to journalists, Ologunagba stated that Senator Anyanwu did, in fact, sign the letters informing INEC of the date, time, and venue of the party’s upcoming elective convention, scheduled for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“There is no forgery. The National Secretary signed the documents himself,” Ologunagba said, flanked by key party officials.

He also presented a trail of communications purportedly showing Senator Anyanwu’s active involvement in the planning process — including exchanges with party leadership and his participation as secretary of the contact and mobilisation committee for the convention.

Allegation Escalated to DSS and Police

Senator Anyanwu had earlier submitted a formal petition to both the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police, alleging that his signature had been falsified on documents submitted to INEC.

The move raised tensions within the party, especially as it prepares for its high-stakes convention aimed at restructuring its leadership and electoral strategy.

PDP Leadership Calls for Calm

Party leaders urged unity and calm among members, reiterating that internal mechanisms exist to address grievances. The PDP leadership maintained that the processes leading to the elective convention were transparent and in line with the party’s constitution.
