Foreign Affairs Ministry Confirms Death of Nigeria's Consul General in Buea, Taofik Coker

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the passing of Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, Nigeria’s Consul General in Buea, Republic of Cameroon.

Ambassador Coker died on Saturday, August 16, 2025, after a brief illness, the ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

Described as a diligent and patriotic career diplomat, Coker served Nigeria with professionalism and dedication across several postings. Before his appointment as Consul General in Buea, he represented Nigeria at its missions in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China.

The ministry said his death was not only a personal loss to his family but also a great blow to the diplomatic community and the nation at large.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its heartfelt condolences to his immediate family, colleagues, and friends at this difficult time and prays for the peaceful repose of his soul,” the statement read.
