The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), on Monday, formalized a renewed commitment to regional cooperation and sustainable growth by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Paris.
The agreement was signed by the President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Omar Alieu Touray and the Secretary-General of the OECD, Mr. Mathias Cormann.
In a statement, the MoU sets a strategic framework for enhanced collaboration in key areas including regional economic integration, trade and investment, governance, food security, and human capital development, with a focus on empowering women and youth.

According to the statement, the strengthened partnership supports the objectives outlined in ECOWAS Vision 2050 and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
It also reflects a shared commitment to evidence-based policymaking and sustainable development that benefits the people of West Africa.
