The Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ ) FCT Council has expressed shock over the death of another member and former Secretary Nigeria Association of Women Journalists ( NAWOJ) FCT Chapter, Prophetess Ogonnaya Regina Umeham.
Ogonnaya died on Friday during a protracted illness. She was a former staff of Daily Times Newspapers and until her death the News Editor, Weekenders Magazine.
The devastating news of her death was received while the council is still grieving over the passing of Late Rafat Idris, an Assistant Director in Voice of Nigeria, VON.
In a statement, the Secretary of Council, Comrade Jide Oyekunle on Saturday expressed worry over the tragic and unfortunate incidents.
The statement read ” The Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ ) FCT Council joins family, friends, colleagues, and associates of Prophetess Umeham in grieving over the sudden passing of this vibrant journalist, until her health took a down turn.
” This is very painful and devastating to us, as it is coming few hours after we lost another colleague, Rafat Idris.
The former NAWOJ secretary, who died Friday morning after a protracted illness, worked in many reputable media organisations, including the Daily Times Newspapers. Until her death she was the News Editor, Weekenders Magazine, Abuja. Prophetess Ogonnaya was also the Secretary of the Credentials Committee for the delegates Conference of NAWOJ held at Kano, where Comrade Gbenga Onayiga served as Chairman.
Prophetess Umeham’s family would announce the burial arrangement in due course.
