Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have foiled an unusual drug trafficking attempt involving a 35-year-old woman, Rabi Muhammad, who allegedly concealed tramadol capsules in a fake pregnancy bump at the Seme border in Lagos.
Muhammad, a Kano-based businesswoman, was intercepted on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the departure area of the Seme land border while attempting to travel to Cotonou, Benin Republic. NDLEA officers reportedly became suspicious after noticing her protruding stomach.
In a statement issued on Sunday, February 22, the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, disclosed that a thorough body search revealed the pregnancy was fake.
According to the statement, the suspect had strapped a pink-coloured calabash around her stomach to simulate a baby bump.
The container was used to conceal 3,200 capsules of tramadol, which she allegedly intended to smuggle into Cotonou for sale. The NDLEA said investigations are ongoing.
