Stakeholders Unite to Enhance Family Planning, Healthcare Accountability in Kano

The Africa Health Budget Network (AHBN) Kano team, led by Advocacy and Accountability Specialist Aqibu Hamisu, held a high-level stakeholder engagement meeting with key health officials in Kano State.

During the meeting, the delegation met with the Deputy Director of Public Health and Incident Manager of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), Dr. Abdullahi, alongside Coordinators for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) and Family Planning (FP).

Discussions centered on the state government’s progress in achieving its FP2030 commitments, as well as opportunities for collaboration to enhance funding, service delivery, and accountability mechanisms. AHBN emphasized the need for evidence-based advocacy to drive sustainable improvements in healthcare.

Dr. Abdullahi welcomed AHBN’s intervention, acknowledging the organization’s role in strengthening MNCH and FP initiatives. He pledged to engage all relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and effective response.

Representatives from AHBN—including Sulaiman Jalo, Zainab Nasir (YOSPIS), and Nafisa Shehu (CHR)—commended the health ministry for its open-door policy and commitment to partnerships. They reaffirmed AHBN’s dedication to supporting Kano State in fulfilling its healthcare delivery commitments.
