FG launches National Health Fellows Programme

The Federal Government has announced the launch of a one-year National Health Fellows Programme, aimed at fostering innovation and driving transformative change in Nigeria’s health sector.

In a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Alaba Balogun, the programme is being spearheaded through the Office of the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative (SWAp) under the ministry’s supervision.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate at the launch called on Nigerian professionals from diverse fields, including health, technology, and social sciences, to apply for the fellowship.

“This programme will bring together a cohort of emerging leaders from various disciplines to form a highly skilled and motivated cadre of professionals capable of driving meaningful change and innovation in the health sector,” the statement read.
The initiative aims to build capacity and foster leadership development, ensuring that participants contribute significantly to advancing the health system.

Eligible Nigerians are encouraged to apply for the programme, with the application deadline set for 27 January 2025.

This initiative is part of the government’s renewed efforts to strengthen the health sector and promote cross-disciplinary collaboration for sustainable development.
