In a major security breakthrough, operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police Force have apprehended 20 suspects for allegedly hacking the 2025 Computer-Based Test (CBT) examinations conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
The arrests, which took place in Abuja, followed an extensive investigation into cyberattacks targeting the examination body’s computer servers. Authorities disclosed that the suspects belong to a larger criminal syndicate believed to comprise over 100 individuals, notorious for infiltrating the digital systems of key educational institutions, including JAMB and the National Examinations Council (NECO).
Security agencies have vowed to intensify efforts to dismantle the syndicate and safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s public examination processes.
