Media personality Robert Ekpo, popularly known as Roby Ekpo, has rejected a cease-and-desist notice issued by his estranged wife, Mayowa Lambe, describing her demand for ₦100 million in damages as excessive, baseless, and premature.

Ekpo, through his solicitors at TAP Legal Services, stated his position in a response shared on his official Instagram page on Thursday, a day after Lambe’s lawyers demanded a retraction of statements he made about her on The Honest Bunch podcast.

The response letter, dated April 23 and signed by M. M. Obonb, confirmed receipt of the notice but said Ekpo “categorically denies the allegations” and rejected claims that his statements were false, malicious, or defamatory. His legal team maintained that his comments were based on personal experiences and his understanding of events, insisting he had no intent to harm Lambe’s reputation.

The lawyers argued that the dispute stemmed from a complex personal relationship and accused Lambe’s side of presenting a one-sided narrative. They also dismissed the ₦100 million damages demand as unfounded and criticised the deadline given for compliance as unreasonable and inconsistent with standard legal practice.

Ekpo’s counsel further disclosed that he possesses documentary and testimonial evidence, including communications and other records, which they said contradict several claims in the notice and would be presented at the appropriate time. They added that if legal action proceeds, Ekpo would defend himself and may file counterclaims, including allegations of harassment, intimidation, and reputational harm.

The response also suggested possible escalation beyond Nigeria, stating that the notice could be tendered as evidence in a petition to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. While expressing openness to lawful resolution, the letter stressed that Ekpo would not be pressured into any admission or concession.

The dispute follows Ekpo’s recent appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast, where he made several allegations about Lambe concerning their past relationship.

In response, Lambe’s legal representatives, acting through Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, stated that no marriage existed at the time of the interview, asserting that their traditional union had been mutually dissolved before May 11, 2025. They also claimed Lambe holds verifiable evidence, including financial and medical records, to refute Ekpo’s allegations.
