NUJ FCT Council Election: Credentials Committee Approved Commencement of Campaigns

The Credentials Committee for the NUJ FCT Council Election has approved the commencement of campaigns for the 2024 Election into different positions in the Council.

This is contained in a statement by the Chairman of the Committee, Mr.
Henry Umoru.

The statement reads:

To All Members of the FCT NUJ Council

Formal Approval to Commence Campaigns for the 2024 FCT NUJ Council Elections

Dear Aspirants/Members,

Following the established guidelines and timetable for the 2024 FCT NUJ Council Elections, we are pleased to formally announce the approval for the commencement of election campaigns. This approval follows the completion of preliminary stages, including the issuance and submission of forms, screening of aspirants, publication of provisional lists, and subsequent resolution of claims and objections.

The National Secretariat has reviewed and approved the final list of cleared candidates vying for various positions, which has been published by the Credentials Committee. Campaign activities are to proceed in strict compliance with the approved Election Timetable and the ethical standards of the NUJ.

Election Time Table Schedule:

1. November 8 – 15th: Issuance and submission of forms

2. November 16th & 18th: Screening of Candidates

3. November 19th: Publication of Provisional List

4. November 20th – 21st: Claims and Objections

5. November 23rd: Publication of Final Cleared List

6. November 24th: Campaigns Begin

7. December 2nd: Campaigns End

8. December 3rd: Manifestos Night

9. December 4th: Election Day

Business Session: 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

Accreditation & Voting (Simultaneously): 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Counting and Announcement of Results: Immediately after voting.
