The Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) has called for unity among Muslims, emphasizing the need to set aside differences and work toward a common goal.
Speaking at the annual Pre-Ramadan meeting at the JNI National Headquarters in Kaduna, President General and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, urged Muslims to embrace inclusivity and foster a united front. He reaffirmed JNI’s commitment to strengthening unity within the Islamic community.
Secretary-General of JNI, Professor Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, cautioned clerics against using the pulpit for personal opinions or sectarian propaganda. He warned that any scholar found inciting violence would face disciplinary measures from JNI.
Former Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Isa Pantami, highlighted the responsible use of social media, reminding Muslims that they would be held accountable for their online actions in the hereafter. He also proposed an independent regulatory body, under JNI’s supervision, to monitor clerical conduct.
Delivering a lecture on “The Implication of Social Media on the Unity of Islamic Scholars,” Professor Yahaya Mujahid of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria urged Islamic scholars to strictly adhere to the Qur’an and Hadith in their teachings, especially with Ramadan approaching. He emphasized the importance of allowing only well-versed scholars to deliver lectures to prevent misinformation.
The event featured goodwill messages from the National Security Adviser and the Governor of Kaduna State and was attended by Islamic scholars from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, traditional rulers, and representatives of female Islamic organizations.JNI
