Tinubu Flags Off 2nd Niger Bridge Access Road, Pledges Infrastructure Growth

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development with the flag-off of the access road to the 2nd Niger Bridge. The project, he said, is a direct response to the difficulties faced by road users and will enhance connectivity, improve road safety, and stimulate economic activities in Delta State and the wider South-East region.

Represented by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at the flag-off ceremony, President Tinubu emphasized that upgrading and modernizing infrastructure is crucial for Nigeria to achieve global economic relevance.

“For Nigeria to become an economic powerhouse, we must invest in modern infrastructure. This project is a testament to our dedication to national development,” he stated.

The President highlighted other major road projects his administration is prioritizing, including the multi-billion naira Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway. He stressed that such investments would foster urban-rural integration and provide seamless connections for transporters, traders, entrepreneurs, and investors.

“As we commence the construction of Phase 2A of the access road to the 2nd Niger Bridge, I commend the Delta and Anambra State governments for their cooperation. Partnerships like this are essential for trust, good governance, and sustainable development,” Tinubu added.

He also urged motorists to remain patient and cooperate with contractors throughout the construction process.

Minister of Works David Umahi assured that all key projects inherited from the previous administration remain a priority under Tinubu’s leadership, with steady progress being made nationwide.

Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Works, Engr. Olufunsho Adebiyi, noted that the 17.55km access road in Asaba would serve as a crucial transportation link between the South-South and South-East regions.

Traditional rulers from benefiting communities—including Asaba, Oko-Amakun, Okwe, Ibusa, Okpanam, and Issele-Azagba—expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for initiating the project, which they believe will transform their communities.

A representative of the construction firm overseeing the project assured that the road would be built with reinforced concrete pavement to ensure durability and longevity.
