Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC at the end of the season, bringing an end to a glittering nine-year spell at Anfield.

The 33-year-old forward made the announcement in a farewell video shared on social media, describing his departure as an emotional moment after years of success with the Premier League champions.

“Unfortunately, the day has come,” Salah said.

“This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.”

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma and went on to become one of the club’s greatest players, scoring 255 goals in 435 appearances — placing him third on the club’s all-time scorers list.

During his time at Anfield, he won multiple trophies, including the Premier League title, the UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and two League Cups. He also claimed four Premier League Golden Boot awards.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Salah paid tribute to teammates, staff, and fans.

“Liverpool is not just a football club. It’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit,” he said.

“You gave me the best time of my life. I will always be one of you.”

Liverpool, in a statement, described Salah’s spell as “illustrious,” confirming that an agreement had been reached for him to leave at the end of the 2025–26 season.

“Mohamed Salah will bring the curtain down on his remarkable career with Liverpool at the end of the season,” the club said.

The Egyptian forward’s future had been the subject of speculation following a reported fallout with manager Arne Slot in December. Salah had expressed frustration after being benched for three consecutive matches, claiming he felt “thrown under the bus.”

Despite injury setbacks this season, Salah recently returned to form, scoring in three of his last four starts, including a goal in Liverpool’s 4-0 win over Galatasaray that secured Champions League quarter-final qualification.

However, he missed Liverpool’s recent defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, a result that dented the club’s hopes of securing a Champions League spot next season.

“Leaving is never easy,” Salah added.

“Because of all of you, I will never walk alone.”

Liverpool indicated that full celebrations of Salah’s legacy will take place closer to his final appearance at Anfield.
