The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has arrested a 53-year-old Nigerian national, Olatunde Abiodun Olusanjo, in Los Angeles over prior convictions related to sexual offences.
According to a statement released by the agency’s Enforcement and Removal Operations office in Los Angeles, the suspect was apprehended on April 21 and is currently in custody pending removal proceedings.
ICE disclosed that Olusanjo has a criminal history that includes offences such as child molestation, sexual battery and solicitation of lewd conduct. The agency described him as a convicted sex offender.
A video shared alongside the statement showed the suspect in handcuffs being escorted from an agency vehicle into a detention facility. In the clip, a narrator identified him as a Nigerian citizen and confirmed his arrest by immigration authorities.
Officials said Olusanjo would remain in custody while legal processes related to his removal from the United States are completed.
