A lone auto crash claimed the life of a female passenger and left three others injured after a vehicle’s tyre burst along the Awowo axis of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
The incident, which occurred involved a white Mazda bus with registration number LND 917 YF carrying 20 passengers.
According to eyewitnesses, the bus overturned after the driver lost control when one of its tyres burst in motion.
Spokesperson of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), Babatunde Akinbiyi, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday in Abeokuta. He said the female victim died instantly, while three male passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
“The corpse has been deposited at Ijaye Hospital’s morgue, while the accidented vehicle has been towed off the road to ease traffic flow,” Akinbiyi stated.
He advised motorists to regularly check their tyres and maintain their vehicles to prevent avoidable crashes.
