Kano State Moves to Boost Social Services with New Protection Agency

The Kano State House of Assembly (KNHA) has passed the Kano State Social Protection Agency Bill, 2025, paving the way for the establishment of an agency dedicated to assisting vulnerable groups across the state.

The bill was passed following deliberations during a plenary session presided over by Speaker Alhaji Jibril Isma’il Falgore. The proposed agency will provide essential support in healthcare, education, and job creation for the less privileged, elderly, and other disadvantaged citizens.

Speaking to journalists after the session, Majority Leader Alhaji Lawan Hussaini Dala stated that once signed into law, the agency will be led by a Director General with expertise in social services and governed by a Board of Trustees comprising representatives from key ministries and partner organizations.

He emphasized that the agency’s creation is aimed at reducing poverty and improving living conditions for Kano residents.

The House later adjourned its session following a motion moved by Majority Leader Lawan Hussaini.
