The Kano State Hisbah Board has officially cancelled the planned wedding between popular TikTok comedian Idris Mai Wushirya and Basira ‘Yar Guda, citing unresolved controversies and legal concerns surrounding the ceremony.

Confirming the development, the Deputy Commander of Special Operations at the Hisbah Board, Mujahedeen Aminuddeen Abubakar, stated that the decision came after an investigation revealed that the couple intended to proceed with the marriage as a way to sidestep pending legal matters.

According to Abubakar, the board’s intervention was aimed at preventing future disputes and maintaining peace between the parties involved.

“Our findings showed that the proposed marriage was not based on mutual understanding but was instead an attempt to evade legal consequences. Therefore, the board resolved to cancel the wedding to avoid further misunderstanding,” he said.

He added that the case had been forwarded to the appropriate court for further legal action.

Reports indicate that Hisbah’s involvement followed growing discussions on social media, where users raised concerns that certain aspects of the planned wedding might contradict Islamic marital principles.

The development has since sparked mixed reactions online, with viral videos showing Idris Mai Wushirya acknowledging that he had previously been cautioned but had decided to proceed with the marriage before it was ultimately cancelled.
