The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has approved and released the results of 85 underage candidates who successfully completed its comprehensive screening exercise under the exceptional admission policy.

A statement by JAMB’s spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, says the approved candidates have been duly informed and directed to proceed to their respective institutions to finalize their admission processes.

Dr. Benjamin explained that the policy on exceptional admission aligned with international best practices, and emphasized that such cases were treated as rare exceptions rather than the norm.

In the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), out of 2,031,133 applicants, a total of 41,027 candidates sought consideration under the underage category.

Out of them, 599 candidates scored the required 80% threshold in the UTME and were subjected to additional screening of their school certificates and Post-UTME results, which led to a shortlist of 182 finalists.

Following further verification, interviews, and detailed assessment, 85 candidates were found to have met all the stipulated criteria for admission.

JAMB also announced that any of the 182 finalists who missed the final interview due to valid reasons may submit a formal request through the JAMB Support Ticketing System, using the new category titled “2025 Underage Complaint. Each case, the Board stated, will be reviewed on its individual merit,” it stated.

According to the statement, candidates who scored 320 and above in the UTME but are disqualified for failing to upload their O-Level results have been granted a two-day window to upload the required documents and notify the Board via the ticketing system.

Reaffirming its commitment, JAMB assured the public that it will continue to uphold a credible, transparent, and inclusive admission process, while maintaining the integrity and quality of academic standards across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.
