Kano Suspends March Sanitation Exercise to Ease Sallah Festivities

Kano State Government has announced the suspension of its end-of-month environmental sanitation exercise for March 2025 to allow residents to focus on Sallah preparations.

The Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Dr. Dahiru Mohammad Hashim, said the decision reflects Kano’s status as a commercial hub and the anticipated influx of visitors from neighboring states during the festive period.

However, he clarified that the sanitation exercise would still be conducted in government ministries, departments, agencies, motor parks, and marketplaces.

Dr. Hashim reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to maintaining a clean environment while respecting cultural and religious traditions.

“This suspension demonstrates the government’s dedication to balancing its responsibilities with community needs,” he stated, assuring that the monthly sanitation will resume in April 2025.

Residents are urged to maintain hygiene and sanitation practices during and beyond the suspension period.
