Gunmen abduct six health workers at midnight raid in Ondo

Suspected kidnappers have abducted no fewer than six health workers during a midnight attack on a health facility in Oke Ijebu area of Akure, the capital of Ondo State.

The incident, which occurred in the early hours of Saturday, March 28, has heightened concerns over the safety of healthcare personnel in the state.

According to reports, the armed men stormed the facility at about 2 a.m. in a bus and forcefully gained entry into the premises, located opposite Mega School. The attackers reportedly rounded up all staff on duty, including interns, before whisking them away to an unknown destination.

Patients receiving treatment at the time of the raid were left unharmed, although sources said they were visibly shaken by the ordeal.

As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force in the state had yet to issue an official statement on the incident or confirm efforts to secure the victims’ release.
