The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Ali Bukar Dalori, the Deputy National Chairman (North), as the new Acting National Chairman of the party. This follows the immediate resignation of former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, who stepped down from the position on Thursday.

The development was confirmed in an official statement by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka. According to the statement, Ganduje tendered his resignation through a letter addressed to the National Working Committee (NWC) via the National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru.

“His resignation, which takes immediate effect, was offered to enable him to attend to urgent and important personal matters,” Morka stated.

The party revealed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed Ali Bukar Dalori to assume the role of Acting National Chairman, pending the convening of the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to formally fill the vacant position.

Ganduje, who hails from the North-West geopolitical zone, was appointed APC National Chairman in August 2023 after the resignation of Abdullahi Adamu from the North Central zone. His tenure, however, was marred by internal opposition, particularly over concerns about the violation of the party’s zoning formula.

Prior to his role as APC chairman, Ganduje served as Governor of Kano State from May 2015 to May 2023. In January 2025, President Tinubu appointed him as Chairman of the Board of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), and reports have since linked him to a non-career ambassadorial nomination.

The APC is expected to summon an emergency NEC meeting in the coming days to decide on a substantive National Chairman for the party.
