Minister of Interior urges Nigerians to uphold patriotism, unity, and faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda

The Federal Government has officially declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to commemorate Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a statement released on Monday and signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo congratulated Nigerians both at home and abroad on what he described as a “historic milestone,” and encouraged citizens to continue embracing the values of patriotism, unity, and resilience that have defined the Nigerian spirit since independence in 1960.

“With the cooperation of all Nigerians, the country will continue to grow stronger in peace, progress, and development,” the minister stated.

Faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda

Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Nigerians to sustain their belief in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he said is anchored on national rebirth, economic transformation, and shared prosperity.

“Let us remain steadfast in our commitment to building a better Nigeria. The journey may be challenging, but with collective effort, our nation will reach greater heights,” he said.

As Nigeria marks 65 years of independence from British colonial rule, this year’s celebration is expected to reflect both the achievements and aspirations of Africa’s most populous nation.

The minister emphasized that October 1 is not just a day of remembrance, but also an opportunity for reflection and renewed commitment to the nation’s progress.
