Governor Dauda Lawal Inaugurates Governing Councils for Zamfara Tertiary Institutions
Gusau, Zamfara State – In a major step toward revitalizing the education sector, Governor Dauda Lawal has inaugurated the governing councils and boards for six Zamfara state-owned tertiary institutions.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Government House in Gusau, marks a significant milestone in the governor’s efforts to improve higher education management and academic excellence across the state.

The newly inaugurated councils and boards will oversee the administration of Zamfara State University, Talata Mafara; Abdu Gusau Polytechnic, Talata Mafara; and the College of Education, Maru. Others include the College of Nursing and Midwifery, Gusau; College of Health Sciences and Technology, Tsafe; and College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura.

Speaking at the event, Governor Lawal emphasized that the councils’ establishment aligns with the government’s white paper recommendations based on a comprehensive assessment of the institutions.

 

“This event is a critical step in our administration’s mission to rescue the state’s education sector from collapse. The councils and boards inaugurated today will significantly enhance the management of our tertiary institutions, bringing about a new era of academic excellence,” the governor stated.

He urged the appointees to use their experience and expertise to tackle challenges facing the institutions, including funding constraints, and to seek collaboration with development partners for sustainable growth.
