Former heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua has shared an emotional tribute following the tragic deaths of his close friends, Latz and Sina, describing the pair as “brothers” whose loss has left a deep void in his life.
Taking to Instagram, the British-Nigerian boxing star posted a heartfelt video in which he opened up about the devastating impact of losing two people he said were not just friends, but business partners, housemates, and key figures in his personal journey.
“They weren’t just friends to me,” Joshua said. “They were major players in my life — brothers, business partners, housemates. People who supported me, protected me, and guided me.”
Joshua revealed that the tragedy completely altered his plans for last year, adding that the unexpected nature of the incident forced him to reflect on life and faith.
“God’s the best planner,” he said. “Last year flipped everything I had planned. You never really know what tomorrow holds.”
Despite his grief, the boxing star said he remains committed to carrying on the dreams and goals his late friends had for their families.
“Even though they may not be here physically, when I pray at night and in the morning, I know spiritually they’re going to aid me,” Joshua added. “I’m going to keep pushing forward for them and their loved ones.”
He also expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support shown by fans and well-wishers across the world.
“The love that’s come in for my friends has been unbelievable,” he said. “I truly appreciate everyone who has reached out.”
In his post caption, Joshua extended special thanks to first responders, doctors, and hospital staff who were involved during the emergency, including Dr. Ogunyankin, Dr. Tosin Majekodunmi, and Dr. Ninalowo of Lagoon Hospital, Ikoyi.
He also acknowledged several prominent Nigerians for their support, including businessmen Femi Otedola and Aliko Dangote, Senator Daisy Danjuma, the Governors of Lagos and Ogun States, as well as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Joshua closed his message with a note of appreciation to all who stood by him during the difficult period.
“Your efforts, kindness, and support will never be forgotten,” he wrote. “God bless.”
