The Abia State Government has fulfilled its pledge to support the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu by paying N25 million directly to the hospital where she is receiving care.
The Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, disclosed the development in a statement shared on his X handle on Thursday, July 30.
According to JMartins, Abia State Governor Alex Otti approved the payment before the close of work on Wednesday, ensuring that the funds were transferred directly to the hospital handling the actress’ treatment.
He wrote: “Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency Alex Otti, our pragmatic leader, made good his promise by directing a N25 million payment to the hospital’s account where our legendary Nollywood actress, Mrs Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment.
“We thank you immensely for your support and kindness of heart, sir. History will be kind to you.”
Last week, the 62-year-old actress appealed to Nigerians for financial assistance, revealing that she needed N30 million to undergo three urgent surgeries. She disclosed that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and was struggling to cope with the rising cost of her medical treatment.
In an emotional video posted on her Instagram page, Nwosu appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers not to abandon her as she battles the undisclosed illness.
