President Bola Tinubu has been urged to demonstrate the political will needed to arrest and prosecute individuals allegedly sponsoring banditry and other security challenges in Nigeria.
The Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Henry Ndukuba, made the call during a Thanksgiving service marking the 36th anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Abuja. He said the time had come to expose those behind the growing wave of kidnappings, killings, and other violent crimes.
Most Reverend Ndukuba alleged that some political elites and traditional leaders hire individuals to perpetrate these crimes for their own interests. He added that the creation of state police may not solve the problem, warning that state governments could misuse such structures.
“When those who are sponsoring insecurity in our land are dealt with, if the courts of Nigeria cannot handle them, let them be taken to the International Criminal Court in The Hague,” he said.
The Primate noted that while the Church will continue to pray for peace, authorities must show genuine love for citizens and commit to ending all forms of wrongdoing.

In his sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Afikpo, Ebonyi State, Right Reverend Paul Udogu, urged Christians to embody the virtues of Jesus Christ and avoid actions that could hinder them from receiving God’s blessings. He reminded worshippers of the importance of drawing closer to God and spreading the gospel to non-believers.
Right Reverend Udogu also expressed confidence that God will transform the nation when its citizens choose to live according to His will.
