The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a social media–driven syndicate in Lagos that disguised illicit drugs as imported Christmas cookies and snacks.

Operatives raided a hideout in Ikate, Lekki, arresting two key suspects, Deji Adesanya and Olubiyi Majekodunmi and recovering designer packaging materials along with 5kg of Canadian Loud.

In another Lagos operation, NDLEA officers arrested 38-year-old Philip Ucheka while he received 110 pouches of Canadian Loud weighing 55.6kg. Three delivery vehicles linked to the shipment were also seized.

The agency further intercepted 100g of Loud concealed inside a teddy bear shipped from Thailand, as well as 548 tram@dol capsules hidden in vitamin bottles bound for the UK.

Along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway, operatives detained 55-year-old Wasiu Kareem with large quantities of pentazocine injections, codeine syrup, Co-codamol pills and tramadol. In Ondo State, seven suspects were arrested in the Ipe forest, where 3,077kg of skunk was recovered.

More arrests across Kogi, Lagos, Kano, Bauchi and the Abuja–Jos corridor led to the seizure of several tonnes of skunk and multiple rounds of live ammunition. A Toyota Highlander allegedly used for drug transport was also confiscated.

The NDLEA added that its WADA sensitisation campaigns continued nationwide across schools, ports, worship centres and workplaces.

Chairman Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (rtd) commended officers from all involved Commands and urged them to maintain their commitment to the agency’s drug-control efforts.
