The Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Capt. Chris Najomo, has issued a stern directive to Air Peace, Nigeria’s largest domestic airline, to urgently enhance its domestic flight operations following a wave of complaints from passengers over chronic delays and flight cancellations.

Capt. Najomo delivered the directive during a high-level meeting held today, May 2, 2025, in Abuja with members of Air Peace’s management team. The DGCA expressed deep concern over the airline’s operational reliability and advised the carrier to immediately scale its services in line with the number of serviceable aircraft currently available in its fleet.

According to Najomo, this move is necessary to stabilize flightj schedules and reduce passenger inconveniences. “Airlines must match their operations with their operational capacity to avoid avoidable delays and cancellations,” he stated.

Responding to the concerns, Air Peace representatives acknowledged the operational challenges but assured the regulator that efforts are underway to resolve them, describing the issues as not uncommon within the aviation industry.

While reaffirming the NCAA’s commitment to supporting airlines, Capt. Najomo emphasized that operators must strictly adhere to regulatory requirements and global aviation standards. He also revealed that the NCAA is ramping up its oversight and will intensify monitoring of flight operations across all domestic carriers to enforce compliance and protect the interests of the traveling public.
