President Bola Tinubu has greenlit the immediate disbursement of all allowances and match bonuses for the Super Falcons, just days before their decisive clash against Morocco in the final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The announcement came on Thursday through the Chairman of the National Sports Commission, Shehu Dikko, who confirmed that all entitlements for players, coaches, and officials—covering the entire tournament up to the final on July 26—have been fully paid.
Describing the move as “policy in motion,” Dikko said it reflects a renewed era of responsible sports governance under President Tinubu’s leadership.
“This signals the end of drama and delay in payments. Going forward, this will be the new standard,” Dikko said.
In a further show of support for women’s sports, Dikko revealed that similar financial commitments have also been made to D’Tigress, Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, who are gearing up for their 2025 FIBA Women AfroBasket campaign in Côte d’Ivoire.
“This is the kind of sports administration we are building—one rooted in dignity, trust, and shared prosperity,” Dikko emphasized, noting that the Tinubu-led reforms will leave a lasting legacy in Nigerian sports.
