Senator Oluremi Tinubu is set to visit Benue State on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, as part of the nationwide Renewed Hope Initiative aimed at empowering women, strengthening families, and supporting vulnerable groups across the country.
The visit, described as a significant moment for the state, will see the First Lady engage directly with women and beneficiaries of the initiative in a bid to expand its grassroots impact and promote inclusive development.
According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed delight over the forthcoming visit, describing it as a positive step in the ongoing collaboration between the Federal and State Governments to improve the welfare of citizens, particularly women and families.
A major highlight of the visit will be the commissioning of 10 newly completed roads in Makurdi. The roads form part of over 45 projects delivered by the Alia administration and cover a total distance of 11.5 kilometres. The infrastructure projects are expected to improve transportation, stimulate economic activities, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
Among the roads scheduled for commissioning are Ishaya Bakut Road Dual Carriageway, Abu King Shuluwa Road, Mama Mbateren Alia Street, Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road, Sir James Iorpuu Street, Tyagher Gbaa Street, and Jato-Aka Road, among others.
Following the road commissioning ceremony, Senator Tinubu will proceed to Ihugh, where she will commission and officially hand over a Community ICT Centre, a project expected to boost digital access and technological development in the area.
Speaking ahead of the visit, the Benue State Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady and State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Scholastica Bensor, said preparations have been completed for a successful event. She noted that women across the state are enthusiastic about receiving the First Lady and called on community leaders, support groups, and residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome her.
The visit is expected to further strengthen developmental partnerships while highlighting ongoing efforts to improve infrastructure, empower women, and expand opportunities for communities across Benue State.
