Russia and Nigeria have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations following a meeting between Russia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georgy Evgenievich Borisenko, and Nigeria’s newly appointed Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Joseph Olusola Iji.

The meeting, held in Moscow, marked Ambassador Iji’s formal presentation of copies of his credentials to the Russian Foreign Ministry, a key diplomatic step ahead of the commencement of his official duties.

During the discussions, both sides reviewed issues of mutual interest and explored ways to further advance the long-standing friendly relations between the two countries. Particular emphasis was placed on intensifying political dialogue and expanding cooperation across critical sectors.
The officials highlighted opportunities for deeper collaboration in trade and investment, as well as scientific, technical and humanitarian exchanges. They also expressed a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships that would deliver mutual benefits to both nations.
