Mary Yul-Edochie, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Yul Edochie, has approached the Lagos State High Court seeking orders compelling the removal of several social media accounts allegedly used to cyberbully, harass and defame her.

The entrepreneur, influencer and brand ambassador is also asking the court to restrain Yinka Omolola Theisen, Emeka Ugwuonye and unidentified operators of various social media accounts from making further allegedly defamatory publications about her on Facebook, Instagram, X and other online platforms.

The suit, marked LD/10737GCM/2026, was filed through her lawyers, Jessica Egbafor and Esther Fijo of Greylaw Partners.

In the application, May is seeking a perpetual injunction restraining the defendants from publishing content she described as defamatory, threatening and harassing.

She is also asking the court to order the deletion of the disputed social media accounts and posts, as well as direct the affected social media platforms to disclose information about the account holders to aid investigations.

In a 126-paragraph affidavit supporting the suit, May alleged that she has endured a sustained campaign of online harassment spanning several years.

She claimed that the defendants, alongside operators of several blogs and social media pages, published false allegations, manipulated photographs, AI-generated images, insulting caricatures, death wishes and other offensive content intended to ridicule her and damage her reputation.

According to the claimant, despite serving legal notices on some of the defendants in 2025 demanding the removal of the publications, the alleged online attacks intensified, with new accounts allegedly created to continue the campaign.

May also accused one of the defendants, whom she identified as her former lawyer, of breaching solicitor-client confidentiality by publishing information obtained during the course of legal representation.

She further alleged that the publications had negatively affected her business, endorsement deals and commercial relationships. She claimed that the circulation of her private contact details online exposed members of her family to harassment and caused her emotional distress, anxiety and concerns for her safety.

She is, therefore, urging the court to restrain the defendants from making further publications about her and to compel the removal of the disputed online content.

Justice Abdul-Raheem Tejumade Muyideen directed that all court processes be served on the defendants through their last known residential addresses, email addresses, social media accounts and other electronic communication platforms.

The court subsequently adjourned the matter for a service report.

The suit follows cease-and-desist notices issued by May through her lawyers in September 2025 to Ugwuonye and Theisen over allegations of cyberbullying, cyberstalking and defamation.

In the notices, she demanded the removal of the alleged defamatory publications, public retractions and apologies across all platforms where the statements appeared.

She also sought N1 billion in damages from Ugwuonye and N500 million from Theisen for the alleged harm to her reputation and business interests.
