Tension erupted in the eastern Libyan city of Ajdabiya this week after police arrested a group of Argentina supporters whose World Cup celebration descended into violence and public disorder.

The group reportedly took to the streets to celebrate Argentina’s qualification in the ongoing World Cup and Egypt’s elimination from the tournament.

According to local authorities, the celebrations escalated into clashes after the Argentina supporters confronted a group of Egyptian fans in the area.

Police intervened to disperse the crowds, saying the unrest disrupted traffic and violated public order.

Following their arrest, the detained supporters had their heads forcibly shaved by police in what authorities described as a disciplinary measure for their alleged involvement in the disturbance and for provocative actions directed at Egyptian fans.

The incident has drawn attention online, with critics questioning the legality and appropriateness of the punishment.
